Drivers who make pull my hair out
posted Friday February 15, 2008 @ 08:42 by bigass Rants

Another post about awful drivers. This time, about drivers who seem like they're dispatched by some central idiot authority in order to make me late.

Never fails. Leave house, warm up car. In this time, someone radios in all the various asshat driving stereotypes to get in front of me before I pull out of the driveway.

This morning it was the "drive just under the speed limit to make the people behind me miss every traffic light" variety. On Main St, heading towards Davis, dry roads, doing 45 in a posted 50. Then 36 in a 40. Obviously not checking the rear view to see the stack of cars growing on her tail.

Approach green light, speed up slow down, etc, before slamming the brakes on 10 ft from the intersection at the exact moment the light changes from green to yellow. Multi-vehicle accident narrowly avoided by the people in front of me, I left plenty of space because I saw it coming and have followed this 40 something nervous driver on numerous occasions.

Sit through the first bit of the green light, then get stuck by the oncoming stopping school bus that we could have missed if she had actually done the speed limit. Continue down Main St until she jams on the brakes without signalling to make a left turn across 'traffic' to her place of employment. Complete stop in the middle of the road. Except there is no 'traffic', for 1000ft in each direction. No worry, we'll just wait for the traffic to get closer, then hit the gas to make the turn. Then brakes while reconsidering that the car might be closer than a fscking KM away in a 40km/h zone. Sitting across two lanes now. Oncoming traffic that is now actually approaching just stops and lets her go.

Finally past her, but not before just missing the next light because of her antics.

What a frigging liability. Join us next week for another entertaining flavour of asshat driver.

at a certain age, people should be re-tested more often to keep their license.

i haven't escaped this same issue down south either. few times a week i encounter the slow driving grandpa that snuck slowly out of the retirement home. lets do 25 in a 45, then brake hard with a bird flies low. and those sharp right turns at an intersection take 30 seconds to accomplish.

some of those people will self-extinguish via darwin at some point.

and people, when the road has a big painted off section that says STAY CLEAR, there is a reason for it, usually being a fire department needing to always get out when there is a lot of traffic, try and obey these things, it might be your house on fire one day.
