Back from the west side
posted Wednesday December 20, 2006 @ 20:27 by bigass News

So, off we went to tame the wild mountains of BC. 5 hours later, we arrived via Westjet having our fill of seat back satellite TV....

The first day we woke to 65cm of fresh powder, and a fully open lift network servicing a 5,200 vertical foot drop over 7000 acres.

After re-learning how to ski in powder up to our waists, we tore shit up like the indigenous BC mountain wombats.

Double blacks, gladed runs (trees), unmarked embankments and mountain peaks in 80km/h snow storms (no photos of the storm in the interest of avoiding frostbite).
Skiing the future 2008 Olympic downhill ski runs, the glaciers with exposed rock faces and boulders, and off Whistler peak where we were elevated above the clouds.
Harrowing experiences, aching muscles and skiing Whister's 6.43km long, vertical mile peak-to-creek in less than 2 hours.

Covering 75km's in 4 days of skiing, two mountains, and surviving worst of all: an internet outage.

The only question is, when do we go back and who's coming?
