So I had all 4 wisdom teeth out today

And it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be

Performing medical procedures every day put me at an advantage I guess that took away some of my nerves...and after the horrible experience having my eyes done I was greatful to be put under a full general. I quizzed the RN before we could begin about what drugs I would be induced with and how I would feel when I woke up etc.

They give me the NO2 gas while they're putting in the IV supposedly to relax you. But it smelled funny so I wasn't breathing very deep. So I felt in great detail the iv going in and heard the conversation between the 2 nurses arguing about whether it was placed properly and what they should do about it. I'm hooked up to an ECG thats beeping away beside my right ear: beep, beep, beep, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing oh shit. Now I'm still awake cuz I aint breathing in the NO2 very well. I hear people yelling "check her check her, feel her hands is she cold, is she blue?" so I say (kinda stoned) "uhh I'm ok". Everyone startles and turns to look at me cuz they thought I was under. Then the beep, beep starts up again and they all relax.

So I'm wondering when the f@*cking drugs are going to kick in cuz now I am getting nervous. Doc is putting shit in my mouth, I can hear whirring. I'm feeling very drunk but nothing else. Then it comes. The heart starts to pound, feet get tingly. It feels like that awful feeling you get right before you pass out. Then boom, people are calling your name "Stephanie, Stephanie, how are you feeling?". Its all over, an hour and a half later. My mouth is filled with gauze and my face is frozen and the size of a basketball so all I can muster is "fhshslj".

Mom comes in to check on me like a little kid (Dan was my first choice to take me but he was just coming off nights, and honestly after our close call with him at the eye sx I was probably better off with mom lol). Everyones talking about post op drugs and I'm trying to pay attention. Luckily I know *very* basic sign language, so I'm trying to communicate with mom, but my spelling is all off and my gestures are very vague but we made do.

So I go home with mouth rinse, oxycodone (percacet), tylenol 3 and dexamethasone. I religiously iced my face having a Buffy Season 6 marathon all day so the swelling is basically gone now. I tell you the pain is out of this world though and I'm going to have to refill my oxy script tomorrow cuz I'm taking them Q3Hrs and running out fast. Not as effective as I thought. I've heard people are like spaced out on it but for me its keeping the pain just on the brink and I'm a little dizzy but thats it. Very functionalable. I've driven home from the roxx in worse shape (heh totem poles).

So that was my exciting day and I'm off till Wed if need be. Pam is coming by tomorrow to cheer me up and I'm going clothes shopping on Mon for some retail therapy.

I hope everyone is faring better than me right now. Dan had a stressful day of getting up at 3:30, and alternating working on his car and sitting on the couch with me so he's in bed already totally knackered. And btw I told him multiple times he could go to the batchelor party so I do NOT want to hear any ribs from anyone ok?

Derek, way to score a plate out in Cali, bork rocks!

Ban 'I'm never drinking again' from Bork, that's like telling Quagmire he can't say 'Giggidy' during Family Guy.. oh wait, Randy says that too

liver schmiver, its my ulcer thats taking the beating....oh well the percocets (thanks for the sp) are all done and I'm on to the tylenol 3 which suck in comparisson (sp not great this week).
Glad to hear everyone had a good time, and I think we should vote on banning Randy from both "i'm never drinking again" and "giggity"
