Anyone else drive in that rain today?
posted Friday August 19, 2005 @ 21:02 by theferg

I drove to work in it, I drove home from work in it

On the way home I saw the Canadian version of REM's everybody hurts. Coming down the 401 East near the DVP I see a problem up ahead on the 401 West. Seems the road had flooded out and no one was going anywhere. Even though it was still raining people were standing, sitting, talking on their cars, walking on the median for like 3 kms! It was insane :)

As I drove past them and scoffed at their predicament I encountered something similar on the 404. Coming up to an overpass everyone had stopped and was inching. Why was that? Because 2 lanes had been flooded and everyone was crowding into the other 2. Barney and I (quite bravely I might add) took on flooded lane #2 (flooded lane #1 was reserved only for Hummers and Jeeps). The water was almost 2 feet deep and there was like debris floating by me as I drove. I swear I wouldn't have been surprised to see a family of ducks float by.
We made it out on the other side and I was so proud of us....sigh...its going to be really hard trading Barney in next month...sure been some good times

Ferg out

Ferg, Drove home along the 404 last night from 5:30 to 6:30 pm. Going through the same pond on that you took barney through. What a fun sight it is to see people going -10 kph through that shit. Saw 2 seperate accidents on my way home. Stupid people that are in a rush to get home in such shit driving conditions. And I think I did see a gaggle of geese swimming in the pond.

2 things:
Had the roof off and loved every minute of the floods, prob went a little deeper than i had to, but worth it. it took me 3hrs to get home from 7&400
With all the power outages, i can see skot at the hydro plant flipping breakers and leavers like a mad scientist
