OH MY GOD ITS A MIRACLE!

I think we FINALLY have a solid plan for May 24
Now as I've told everybody numerous times, I still will not believe it until we actually arrive at the cottage (alone I might add). It looks like I might be the unprepared packer this year (Scott and Chris your time may be up).
Since I am still a doubting Thomas, does anyone else want to organize the deets for this "so called" cottage trip? Final head count? Food and such? Time and date of departure?
I suppose ANY plan will beat May 24 a few years ago. Tenting at Mikes boat, frost on the ground, freezing your ass off *alone* while a certain someone is tripping off shrooms and puking in the bathroom. Jolly good times :)

Well, I will assume Josh will be leading us up there in one or two cars, enough food for the friday night - Sunday morning, maybe Josh can fill us in on whether or not there is a grocery store nearby. He has room for 6 I believe maybe more if we bring up cots, but I dont think we will have more than 6.
If we cannot all leave together then Josh can provide directions for those comming up later than he is. Other than that there is no real need to stress over any "preperations".
If you are worried about a space to sleep, call ahead or bring a cot (or ask someone else to, I'll probably bring mine incase). If you dont think you will have food, ask if there is a store nearby there, or bring enough for yourself. If you dont know when to leave, ask Josh when he is heading up, or post here when your available to leave and we can arrange rides if needed.

im guessing Josh has a lot to do with the cottage? hes mentioned 4 times there heh.

Oh boy here we go,
there area alot of us going up (more than 6. Me, alyssa, skot, chris, dan, stef, josh, mike and maybe pitman and nat.
also not to forget skot plus 1 and mike plus one (ski-do).
8 in total. i'm driving, but can only fit 2 people thinking we need 3 cars.
I will work friday till like 5 and believe i am the last person to get off work. Alyssa will meet me at my place and all of you will meet at josh's at 5:30!!!!!! no later. you all should be organized by the time i get there and we leave by 6.
since this trip is about a 4hr drive (also in cottage traffic maybe longer) we do need to be in the road asap.
since we are getting up there so late, we should have some food (snack and breakfast) at least brought up. also prices are a little exspensive there due to cottage price rapage
as for sleeping, we figure that out later, but bring somthing just to be safe.
I'm bringing a bigger TV (better than the 14' one there) and my xbox (remember it plays dvd's) andmovies adn crap-feel free to bring some too.

K.. ya. I've spoken with Josh and he really doesn't want to plan this thing to death. I don't know why he's incommunicado.. but I'm with him and Chris on it, no need to stress about preparations - just try to relax and it will sort itself out. Promise.

All right, guess it's time for me to put my 2 cents in on this whole thing, since it is my cottage after all. Yes, it would be a good idea to get togther to finalize plans for the cottage. This friday or saturday night would be good. There are 6 beds at the cottage, 2 double beds, 3 twins and 1 pull out couch. Plan on bringing your own sheets to save on us having to do laundry. As for vehicles, we may need three, as there is a potential for there being 9 people going. HOwever if, we pack properly, we should only need two.
There is a grocery store near the cottage, about a 10 minuite drive away, but because it is a small town expect to add about 20% to all of their prices. A trip to Costco one night before we go shoud be able to get us enough food for 3 days, with only the need for thigs like milk and eggs once we get there. Also, there is an LCBO in town, but having our stuff ready before we go would be a good idea. As for any other question or concerns, I guess we can address them on friday night. If not email me, msn me or call me and we'll figure it out.

And i know if i dont it will, would rather have it there and not use it then not bring it and wish i did.

Well, sincie I'm not seeming to get anywhere with this, I guess I just have do it on my own. I want to be on the road no later than 6:30 pm on friday, as it is a 4+ hour drive to the cottage. Add in the fact we have to stop by my grandparents for the keys and for written directions, we need to be on the road as soon as possible.
Secondly, Randy, Mike and Myself are driving. Randy Has the Sonata, Mike in his Explorer and me in the Van. We will split up who is going with whom on friday, but having an idea before hand can save time and get us on the road sooner.
Third, plan on taking some food with you. We will NOT be stopping to go grocery shopping on the way out, and no stores will be open until the saturday. If you want snacks and breakfast for friday night/saturday morining, you need to bring it with you.
Fourth, there will be no bedding or towels provided, so bring your own. If that means just a sleeping bag, or a set of sheets, that's your call. I don't want to have to do laundry for everyone after we leave.
Fifth, as for seado's and dogs, you will need to talk with me about taking them. Personally I am against them going. There will be young children and small dogs there, so Lexus would have to be leashed the whole time. As for the Seado's, the only launching ramp is in town, and there is not a dock we are free to use at the cottage, so keeping them in the lake is totally at the cost of who ever brings them.
I hate to sound like a dick about all of this, but it has been getting me really stressed out these last few days. This is supposed to be a relaxing trip, but not doing any planning just leads to more problems. If anyone needs more information or has problems with this stuff, call or email me ASAP, or I will take this as final and be planning around it. Again, sorry to be such a cock about it, but it needed to be done.

ya I was going to mention that mikes not coming...
one other thing is that I can't make it friday night...have to work till 7, can't get out of it...dan and i were planning on coming up on the saturday am if that is still ok...that would make 3 vehicles i guess right? randy, you(josh) and barney....the other issue is jay and lisa? has anyone heard if they are driving on their own or they need a ride? jay are you listening? we need to work out transportation bud...
lex is totally not coming - i wouldn't bring her anywhere unless a)the owners were used to having dogs around and b) she was specifically invited...and yes wolfie she does know what a leash is - soon enough she will know nothing but the leash (f*&ing government)
so back to the cottage if worst case scenerio jay and lisa come in a differnet car would barney being the 4th car be a problem? also if we were to steal chris' canoe can it be launched from the cottage? or is it like the seado and it has to be in town cuz then we'll just not bring it...

Jay and Lisa are coming. However, Lisa works til 5 pm on friday. So, we can do our very best to get up to newmarket for 6:30pm or if someone wants to pick us up on the way to the cottage we will be ready. (We're at 404 and Sheppard)
Ferg, I was trying to keep me coming to the cottage a secret, but I'm here, I'll fill you in at the cottage. Maybe we can figure out the driving arrangements, worse case, maybe Lisa and I can catch a ride with Ferg and Dan.
R2K, I need to talk to ya about something, can you email me your cell number and/or your work number. Smeeetz@hotmail.com
Um, I should be on msn this coming week for sure. Outz

Jay, everyone knew you were coming - keeping it a secret and telling half the group doesn't really work out well :)
Also "on the way to the cottage" is technically north I'm assuming, and YOU my friend are definetly south at 404 and sheppard :)

Josh, you need to take the 401 to get to your cottage right?
so, instead of us driving up to newmarket and getting there right at 6:30, you can come pick us up on the way to the 401. If you want too, were right at 404 and Sheppard (Fairview mall.) If not, then we'll have to figure out alternate plans. Who is all going up on the friday night?
posted by Powell on Monday May 16, 2005 @ 15:05:
Seems like everything is working out, no one is overworked (in terms of planning), and people are talking (for once)...I'm not sure what there is in terms of stress, but this typing messages stuff doesnt seem too stressfull for myself.
Randy, Josh, Steph, driving
Randy + Josh leaving around 6:30
Steph leaving Sat Morning or Late Friday night (doubt it though)
-Jay/Lisa (possibly, but doubt it)
The canoe can be launched off any shore just by carrying it there, there is no need to bring it to town, it can be stored at the side of the cottage or put back on the car for overnight if needed (for whatever strange reason). It shouldnt be an issue unless someone for some reason feels stressed over Steph and Dan bringing a canoe...anyone?...anyone get stressed over canoes?, no? good.
Food for Friday night/Sat morning
Bedding/sleeping bag/Cotts just incase
Swimming gear (if your brave), clothes, change of underwear (please), and toiletries...any other questions there, ask your mommy.
Common Sense (some might be short on that)
Whatever you can fit and need to have a good time (alcohol gets priority)
I dont see why we couldnt pick up Jay and Lisa outside of somewhere at 404/Sheppard...Fairview is at Don Mills/Shepp btw...but close enough I guess, Josh and Jay should chose a location though (and dont stress about picking someone up).
If anyone is stressing at this point in time about anything, give me a call and I'll tell ya how to get rid of it (905) 898-4954. Although I see absolutely NO reason why anyone should be stressing, especially since we all should just be following Josh's guidlines and giving him any information about ourselves that we can...which we have here.
If you didnt catch the tone, I am harping on the fact that we (yes our whole group) seems to create stress out of nothing. There is absolutely nothing stressfull about scheduling a weekend at a cottage, people just have to communicate, both the person who knows all the details about the destination and those that are going with said person. Planning?...use common sense, dont worry about everything, just worry about your part and making sure that the person who is in charge of the destination knows your part. Stress is two finals on Monday, two on Tuesday, and one on Wed. Stress is pulling off a baby, full time job, and nightschool....not planning a weekend at a cottage, that just needs communication.
Get it, got it, good...
I'll take a Coke and a Smile please.
